This might be a little different and not sure if this counts but for my get productive assignment I am going to do something that my family will need this coming year. I have been a full time stay-at-home mom for about 10 years. Within those 10 years I did work as a substitute for a few year and went to school and got an MBA, but for the most part doing household duties and taking care of kids was the priority. During those 10 years I have enjoyed the routine of spending a lot of time meal planning. I love to eat and so meal planning and cooking has always been a big part of my life. I also think eating good food is vital for my family and I want to continue that this next year as I start my student teaching. I will no longer have mornings to drink coffee and make my meal plan and then spend the day grocery shopping. In order for my family to continue eating decent meals I need to figure out a better system.
I did some research on meal planning apps and decided on Mealime. I am not sure if I totally like it yet. My problem is that I have some of my favorite meals in cook books and it seems like it might be difficult keeping it organized if I want to do a mixture of recipes. It is very nice that the grocery list is automatically made for you. This will save me a lot of time as long as I can get used to looking at my phone in the store since I still use a pen and paper.
I have made my first meal plan and will try it out this week.
The only downfall is that I am cheap and so far have the free version. The recipes for the upgraded version look delicious and like most apps have a way of being very tempting.
